Dynamics of Domestic Abuse and Violence
Domestic abuse/ violence is a pattern of behavior that is both purposeful and chosen, used by one person to get and keep control over another.
There are many tactics a person may use to control their partner including the use or threat of physical or sexual violence.
Domestic violence can affect your physical and emotional health. Your partner’s actions may cause you to doubt yourself, and sometimes feel as if the abuse is your fault.
Domestic violence is committed against people of all ages, races, sexual orientations, ethnic, religious, economic, and educational backgrounds.
Domestic violence is isolating. Caring Unlimited advocates are available to listen to your experience, and talk with you more about the tactics an abusive person might use, and ways to increase your safety.
Caring Unlimited’s services are available free of charge to anyone victimized by an intimate partner, regardless of sex or gender identity.
